SAGE STUDIO

BIO. . .
THE GENESIS OF AN ARTIST
An only child, and native to San Antonio with working parents, I was often home alone. I learned to crave this independence and time to myself. I read and pursued the various Arts.

In grade school we took a road trip to Canada, and I flourished in the creative zone of my backseat studio. At the time, Liberace was my favorite pianist, and Mom and Dad were amazed at my creation of a 3-D baby grand piano with tiny keys and a candelabra!

My mother, was a school teacher and is a very talented artist herself. Naturally she was my first Art Critic. In 7th grade I created a 5 foot tall oil painting as a surprise birthday gift for her. I worked on it at the neighbors house, to keep it secret. This year she asked if I wanted it back....Hmmmm, a 4 x 5 foot tall portrait of giraffes? Maybe next year?

In college I kept a promise to myself and majored in Fine Art. I also kept a promise to my parents, and dual majored in Architectural Engineering. In their minds the logic was to have a real job to fall back on. Apparently parents really do know best! Now I have two loves to occupy my creative energies.

Since my graduation into life, I have been very fortunate. I get to design and build spec homes. While my husband David, a real estate broker runs the daily job site chaos. The company is Artisan Homes, homes that incorporate an artistic vision.

Working for myself allows me to paint when I feel the creative urge. The culture of San Antonio, the River Walk, and being a native Texan, keeps me constantly inspired. My signature series " Texas Twangs " is an ever evolving concept of really. really big Art. Surely everyone knows things are bigger in Texas. My favorite examples are " Texas Monarchy " ( Which is possibly a political statement as well ) a 6 ft wide by 4 ft tall Monarch butterfly. And there is my tribute to the newly websterized word LONGNECK, at 6 ft tall and 2 ft wide " LONGNECK's " are the epitome of all things Crazy Texan.

Currently I hang in a handful of galleries. My artwork is in collections across the globe, and has appeared in American Style magazine. I was recently featured an the cover of The Hill Country Sun Magazine with " True American " artwork at my side. The cow parade selected my Mex-i-cow, for San Antonio, and I have been honored with Posters for Fiesta and FOLKLIFE. In summer 2008 you will be able to visit my new Gallery & working studio in San Antonio.

As a truly dedicated Artist, I want my paintings to go beyond simply matching the couch. . . After all, isn't that why we need Art in our lives?
